The history and continued success of Z Management...
Zita Wadwa-McHugh aka Zita McHugh
Zita Wadwa-McHugh aka Zita McHugh is the Managing Director of Z Management. The company represents producers/mixers/writers and musical directors. In the eighties, Zita cut her teeth in the music industry whilst at university, temping at London Records. Under Roger Ames and Tracey Bennett's guidance, she quickly proved her managerial initiative and A&R prowess. This lead to several promotions during her tenure, as A&R coordinator and later A&R liaison manager. Whilst at London Records, Zita was also offered the opportunity to set up a joint venture management company with the legendary Pete Tong and Roger Ames (which was almost unheard of in those days). This company was later christened FFRZ, specifically launched to look after producers, writers and mixers. Zita and her team of young producer/writers from the FFRZ stable, worked on records ranging from East 17, Neneh Cherry, Bros, Duran Duran, Bjork, Gabrielle, Fine Young Cannibals and Salt-N-Pepa, through to the seminal Massive Attack album "Blue Lines" (including the classic "Unfinished Sympathy"). Whilst at London, Zita amassed a sound and expert understanding of the ever changing music industry.
In 1994, having become a mother, Zita confidently decided to leave her role at London Records and FFRZ to go it alone. Zita took her clients with her and rebranded as Z Management, the successful company we know today. Z Management was based in Metropolis studios for the next five years, where she represented clients including the now legendary Marcus Dravs, The Boilerhouse Boys, Chris Potter (Z''s first client, still on the books after 25 years) and Mykaell Riley (now Head of Music Production at The University of Westminster).
Z Management continues to specialise in producer, writer and mixer management and has now been active for over twenty years. The company continues to grow, branching out and incorporating musical directors into the fold. Boasting an impressive clientele, Z prides itself on the quality of music delivered and the very high standards set for the roster. During the company's twenty years, Z has worked on hugely successful, commercial and critically acclaimed records ranging from pop juggernauts to indie rock stalwarts and dance anthems.
