Ben Cullum is a
hugely gifted songwriter, producer and programmer. He is also a
multi-instrumentalist playing keys, bass, guitar, drums as well as
additional vocals on most records he produces. He
ostensibly writes classic songs with pop and modern
soul leanings. Ben is based in a beautiful setting, 20
minutes outside London. His studio, Sunhatch has a great sized live
room, fully equipped with an enviable amount of classic vintage
guitars and keyboards.
Ben has recently worked on projects for the likes of the hugely
talented Celeste (who won
the BBC Sound of 2020
award), Craig David, Charlotte OC, Kate
Nash, Big Heath,
Jodie Abacus, Sophie
Faith and Dan Elliott
(private Soundcloud link available on request).
Ben has also co-written/did additional production on "Stop Right
Now", the lead single from soul legend Gabrielle's
seventh studio album "Do It Again". The single reached the
A-list at BBC Radio 2, with the album
peaking inside the UK top 5 at #4. Other recent
credits including co-writing/producing Harley
Sulé's latest single "Something Good" and
co-writing Hannah Grace's single "Blue",
playlisted by BBC Radio 2 and taken from her debut
album "Remedy".
One of Ben's biggest successes is co-writing and
producing Rizzle Kicks' hit single
"Tell Her", which was A-listed at BBC Radio
1 and is in their top 5 most popular songs with
almost 8 million streams. He also
produced their song "Life's A Treat" from the Aardman film
Shaun the Sheep and their
infectious version of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh
Prince's (Will Smith)
classic "Summertime", which features Jazzy
Jeff himself. Ben's breakthrough came
from writing the hit single "These Are the Days", taken from his
brother Jamie Cullum's multi-platinum
album "Twentysomething". Ben has also had cuts on subsequent albums
"Catching Tales" (including the hit single "Mind Trick" which has
garnered over 10 million streams),
"The Pursuit", "Momentum" and the Ivor Novello
Award winning latest album "Taller". The albums have
collectively sold over 5 million copies
worldwide. Ben has also had cuts and singles with
the likes of Matt Cardle,
Sarah Harding, Brian
McFadden, Tunde
Baiyewu, Charlene Soraia
and Ferry Corsten.
Ben also has a huge passion for
house music. Under the pseudonym Sunhatch, Ben has
been signed to the likes
of Toolroom and
Motion, producing and remixing
various singles.
In terms of other musical ventures,
Ben has also secured syncs on the likes
of Evian Water's Wimbledon
marketing campaign, Very fashion's summer
campaign, MTV's Swatch
advertising campaign with Cathy Dennis, US cop
drama Unforgettable, Isabella
Rossellini movie Late Bloomers and the
hit television series One Tree Hill. Additionally,
Ben's music has been featured in a number of sports campaigns
including two tracks for Manchester
United.
